Audubon Historical Note: Audubon Camp of Maine Nash Property Transcript Photocopy
Carl Buchheister tells the story of the acquisition of the Nash property by the National Audubon Society. The narrative includes Buchheister's anecdote of having a photograph of Bedie Nash, taken after her death, hand-colored at the request of Mrs. Nash. This was perceived by the Nash's neighbors, the Bartletts, as "unduly influencing" Mrs. Nash into the sale of her land to the National Audubon Society. The last page includes the names and dates taken from Nash family gravestones.
